With Revolution expanding their club by adding a reserve team to their setup to create opportunities for players to improve and push for for a first team place, John Woodhatch has been named as Reserve Team Manager.
John has said of his appointment, "It's a proud moment to be made manager of the new Revolution reserve team. Its one of the many highlights for me after the good season I've had this year. My first goal for the club, captaining the team and getting the most improved player award"
Chairman Kieran Smith has said that "John was the most obvious candidate for the job and has many quality attributes of being a football manager".
The reserve team is expected to be integrated with the first team with players expected to transfer between both based on performances and form. "If a player in the reserve team deserves a shot in the first team, he will get that shot. The same applies to any players in the first team who are not playing games. They can play for the reserves to give them so match time",
says Smith.
"With the reserve team, it gives players more opportunities to play. If I'veBeen unhappy about one thing over the last few years, it's the lack of opportunity that some players have had. I believe players can learn more in competitive matches and hopefully we can see people improve on their abilities with more match time", Smith added.
Jamie Smith has been made Director of Reserve Team Football. "Jamie's role is the liaison between the Reserve Team and myself as Manager and Chairman. Any problems or improvements that are needed can be addressed between us and John, making the transition and integration as smooth as possible".
